Sedum rubrotinctum 'Aurora'

  • Sedum rubrotinctum, commonly known as the Jelly Bean Plant, or Pork and Beans, is a species of Sedum.It was officially named as a species in 1948. Originating in Mexico, it is a very easy to grow plant, and it tolerates all types of soil except for poorly drained areas. It grows very well in summer, but can take variations in the climate (however it is not at all frost-tolerant). The plants leaves change color from green to red during the summer months, and sprout bright yellow flowers from between the leaves. New plants are grown from leaves (or beans) that drop off.
