Danova

Primula acaulis 'Danova Light Violet'

  • The Auricula is an especially prized species with both garden and show-bench races, the latter of which are especially popular in Great Britain and Europe. Flower stems rise to 8" or 12" in spring over dense rosettes of foliage. The 1" or slightly larger flowers may be single or double and are borne in umbels. They occur in every color, including true deep green, chocolate brown, gray, and black along with intense scarlet, gold, purple and a host of intermediate shades and blends. All have a central pure white eye, and many have concentric rings of black and other shades as well. The gray foliage is leathery and especially attractive. Best in a cool, sunny protected location in gritty soil. Show forms are often overwintered in cold frames.
  • Hardiness Zone: 2-8
