Salvia splendens 'Vista Salmon'
- The most commonly grown "scarlet sage", which comes in a range of colors and heights from about 8" up to 36", is a tender shrubby perennial grown as an annual in warm climates. It appreciates a moderately rich soil and partial shade in hot, dry locations. Recent studies show that, like some other Salvia species, S. splendens may contain clerodane diterpenes - mild hallucinogens which may have medicinal value in cases of depression and schizophrenia.
